Physical Therapy
Sports Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists have been providing physical therapy services in Southeastern Wisconsin and Northeastern Illinois since 1992. Physical therapy refers to the treatment of disorders with physical agents and methods, such as manual therapy, manipulation, therapeutic exercises, cold, heat, hydrotherapy, electric stimulation, and light, to assist in rehabilitating patients and restoring normal function after an illness or injury.
The goals of physical therapy are:
- Prevention of disability and pain
- Restoration of function and relief from pain
- Promotion of healing
- Adaptation to permanent disability
The role of the physical therapist is to select appropriate tests to evaluate and quantitatively measure each patient’s problem. Then, in consultation with the referring physician, an appropriate rehabilitation plan is developed.
This plan of care is designed to have the ultimate goal of providing the patient with the proper education to manage the problem independently. The focus is on the patient achieving freedom from pain, independent living, and understanding how to prevent re-injury.
